Qatar’s World Cup denounced for ‘washing’ country’s image,’ and ‘not an Olympics’
THE QATAR GAMES Commission, which is charged with ensuring the sporting events comply with international standards, have denounced the Qatar Games as a “wash-up” and “non-Olympic”, “not an Olympics”, and “a failure” that have left “dwindling enthusiasm” and an image of Qatar “that is not one of sports excellence”.
The Commission also condemned the opening ceremony, which the commission called “one of the worst, most un-Islamic acts ever” and “an embarrassment for the UAE and the wider international community”.
