California Congressional District 13 includes parts of the San Francisco Bay Area, and includes districts represented by three California House of Representatives members.
If you’re not as familiar with California’s Congressional District 13 as you should be, here are some facts about this seat in California:
It is one of about six California congressional races that are being closely watched, and are in play in the run-up to the Nov. 6, 2018 election.
It includes districts represented by three California House of Representatives members, including a Democrat, a Republican and a Libertarian.
The Republican seat is held by Mark DeSaulnier, while the Democratic seat is held by Adam Gray.
The Libertarian seat is held by Michael Pizzi.
The Democratic seat is held by John Duarte, while the Republican seat is held by Kevin McCarthy.
California has two Senate seats in play this November, as Republicans Doug Jones and Bill Jones are up for re-election.
We decided to start our look at California Congressional District 13 by looking at just the House races.

We will begin with the incumbent Mark DeSaulnier, who has held the seat since 1992. He’s running against Democrat Adam Gray, who has been a member of the California Legislature since 2001, and has run for president twice.
DeSaulnier faces five challengers, including three Democrats and a Republican. Three of those challengers are former congressmen who are running for re-election in this district.
